Yeast Free Update - Top 10 Favorite Foods

Hey there hotties!

Stoppin in to give you a little Yeast Free Update!

I'm currently holding steady at 11 pounds lost! I call this a success since there was a small bit of cheating last weekend. I may have had a few bites of cream cream, half a brownie and 2 vodka waters! In my defense it was freakin Super Bowl weekend, cream cheese and brownies are my ULTIMATE weakness next to cheesecake and I had a tiny portion when I seriously wanted to DEVOUR the whole thing. Success in my book.

Baby steps people!!

Everywhere I go I hear the following statements:

"You know you're just going to gain all that weight back when you start eating carbs again."
I do know this! That's why this is a LIFESTYLE change, NOT A DIET.

"Your diet sounds like a glorified Atkins or Paleo."
They are VERY similar, but mine is stricter!

"It's impossible to live like that forever."
BS, Stephanie has done it for 3 years! You absolutely CANNNNNN make it a lifestyle. Its a CHOICE.

What I want to respond with is "GET OUT OF TOWN!" You don't see me raining on people's parades when they tell me they are getting puppies, married, having babies, or starting a new gym regiment. NO, Because that's RUDE. Earth to the world, half of marriages end in DIVORCE these days. That's not going to stop me from getting married! Every pregnancy ends with a woman HUGE and complaining of an achy body. Still gonna have a baby one day! And puppies don't come potty trained, but I still LOVE them!!

What I'm trying to tell you is anything that's worth having is going to take WORK! You do have to stick with it. You do have to prepare your meals. You do have to have will power. You do have to WANT this lifestyle to maintain it! And most importantly, YOU CAN MAINTAIN IT!!! It's all about that 80/20!!! So shake off the negative comments because YOU CAN DO IT!

So today I'm sharing with you my lifesavers!!

1. Almond Butter - I spoon full of this will get you through the sweet tooth craving and its GOOD!! Now you cant eat the whole jar in one sitting. Its tempting, I promise!!

2. Jimmy Dean All Natural Sausage - I love breakfast sausage!! Its so yummy and you feel like you're cheating but YOU'RE NOT!! Seriously makes my breakfast the highlight of my day.
3. Breakfast for Dinner - I love breakfast foods so breakfast for dinner has become a staple! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

2 Eggs
2 Turkey Bacon
1/2 Avocado
Slice of Tomato

4. Turkey Chili - I seriously would NOT have made it this far without turkey chili. I cook it on Mondays and eat it throughout the week for lunch and when I don't feel like making dinner.

2 lbs Turkey Chili
1 Large Can Black Beans
1 Large Can Kidney Beans
1 Large Can Hunts Tomato Sauce
1 Packet of Texan One Step Chili Mix

Follow directions of Chili Packet.

5. La Croix - I wasn't a fan of sparkling water before FY but I'm now OBSESSED with it! Its the one thing I CRAVE.

The Berry flavor is my favorite.

6. Fruit (after 2 weeks) - Fruit is my candy now! No joke. I make fruit salad at the beginning at the week and snack on it throughout the week. I try not to eat too much because of the natural sugar, but I have yet to see any effects of eating fruit on the scale.

Apples and oranges are lifesavers.
Strawberries
Oranges
Blueberries
Apples

7. Spaghetti Squash - Not having pasta or bread is TOUGH. Thank Heaven for spaghetti squash as a substitute. I use it whenever I would have made pasta and its been a fabulous substitute.

8. Stir Fry - This recipe makes my heart sing! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! If you haven't tried it do it now!

2 chicken Breast, sliced
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Green Bell Pepper, Sliced
1 Yellow Bell Pepper, Sliced
1 Small Onion, thinly slices
1 5oz Can Water Chestnuts, drained and sliced
1/2 cup Water
2 Garlic Cloves
1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
4 tsp Oat Flour
4 Tbsp Pure Chicken Broth
1 16oz Can Bean Sprouts

Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet; add chicken and cook over medium heat 4 or 5 minutes or until meat turns white. Add bell peppers, onion, celery, water chestnuts, water, garlic, ginger, salt and pepper. Cover and cook over medium-low heat, approximately 5 minutes. Blend oat flour and broth together; stir into chicken mixture. Add bean sprouts and cook about 2 minutes more, or until thickened, stirring constantly.

9. Boiled Eggs - I know this one will be a hit or miss. Some people love them, others hate them! Personally I LOVE boiled eggs and have made this a TREAT! I'll have one with breakfast or for a snack and I just love them.

10. Chipotle & Genghis Grill - These are my favorite 2 restaurants to eat at on YF. Since you can make your own dish, you know exactly what is going in your food!

Chipotle:
Black beans, veggies, chicken, pico, hot sauce, guac and lettuce. No rice or tortilla.

Genghis Grill:
Chicken, bell peppers, green onions, red onions, bean sprouts, green beans, red peppers, and egg and sauce. They have labels on their sauce telling you which are dairy and gluten free. I choose one of them and skip the starch. I also ask for "no dairy" so they won't use butter when they cook my bowl.

Hope this helps!

  3. We are definitely eating and loving similar things! We added fruit yesterday and its been glorious! I love all the La Croix waters and that almond butter is yum!

We make "taco" bowls at home- lean ground turkey and black bean topped with homemade salsa and guacamole. No tortilla, cheese or sour cream and its still delish. Much like the Chipotle bowl concept but cheaper and plenty of leftovers for lunch!

Thanks for sharing the stir-fry recipe! My husband said "I'm burnt out on baked chicken" so this will be great!

    1. We make the taco bowls too! LOVE them! I also get tired of the chicken! I try to rotate meats to break it up. Beef, Turkey, Port, Chicken and Fish. It helps some!

  8. I've been doing the Paleo and people always ask, "For how long?" For.... ever. Every time I explain "It's a lifestyle change" they don't get it! So I was happy to see you post this :-)

Also, my favorite almond butter is from Winco! I'm not sure if you have one, but it's the kind where you can grind it up yourself and it's affordable comparable to the other brands we typically get.

  11. Hi! I started yeast free today and I'm thinking nuts are going to be my saving grace but I can't seem to find "raw" nuts or nuts in bulk that don't contain sugar. :( Do you have any advice?

    1. Check Target for the Archer Farms brand! I found raw, unsalted almonds there and it's about $5 for an average size container.

    2. Sams Club also sells a large bag of raw almonds for less than $10.00

  13. I am living off these same things on my Paleo challenge. LOVE almond butter and spaghetti squash. I recently made cauliflower "bread" sticks to go with my spaghetti squash and homemade sauce. It was awesome and almost made me think I was eating carbs. Brain trickery at its finest.

I'm going to look for La Croix at my grocery tonight! Excited to try it out!

  18. I love maranatha Almond BUtter. It is my go-to also. They have a dark chocolate one, but it might not be yeast-free. This may sound odd, but I have been eating my hard boiled eggs with hummus or avocado. Yum!

  20. I've gotten a lot of the same negative feedback about losing weight for my wedding! Lots of people saying not to start losing now because then I'll have to maintain until the wedding-duh, I'm not happy with how I look now. I just don't get people sometimes!

  21. I think that it is great you are doing the yeast free diet! I work at a 'weight management facility' and it drives me nuts how people define the word diet. It is a lifestyle change, and not a lot of people understand that. Kudos to you for standing up for yourself! Don't let people get you down :D

  22. Great job girl you have been such an inspiration to me. Because of all the information you have provided I am starting Yeast Free on Friday wish me luck

  23. People would ask me the same things when I decided I was going to start eating low-carb. Now, I'm nearly 30 pounds lighter and SO much happier because of it! I know what you mean about it being a lifestyle change, that's for sure. I have days where I miss bread/pasta and all that but I have found substitutes. Good job for sticking to it! It's so hard those first few weeks but after that, it just becomes natural!

  24. You totally can do it!! It really is a lifestyle and people with allergies live like this all the time!

You are doing great so far and I have hopes you will stay strong :) I love reading these posts about YF they are really inspiring

  27. I'm interested in this, and have done Paleo, can you tell me how this is stricter than Paleo? I notice you can have a few things that weren't on Paleo. I just want to make sure I do it correctly. Thanks!

  28. Hi Kristen! Thanks to being educated through your and Steph's blog, my husband and I are going yeast free starting on Sunday! I'm excited he decided to do this with me because if not, I definitely wouldn't have the disciple to do this!

We've researched it extensively and have our meal plan and grocery list for next week ready to go! But I do have a quick question, how often do you workout? We really want to make this a lifestyle change and workout more too..but we HATE working out! HAHA
