5 years ago I purchased a 56" Samsung TV.
{This TV has seen its fair share of football!}
I needed a new TV and I wanted one that was going to last. I did my research and decided to purchase a Samsung instead of a Sony. It was a tad cheaper and from everything I read, I wouldnt even notice a difference in picture quality.
That TV has been a GEM. For the last 5 years I havent had a single problem with it.
About a month ago I began noticing tiny little black and white dots all over the picture. You could still watch the TV and the picture was coming in but there were dots over the picture. Over the last month the "dot" situation has become progressively worse, now covering the entire screen.
I did my research only to find that my DMD chip was going out. Apparently this chip costs $378 for the chip plus another $100 in service repair fees. I was looking at a $500 fix.
Knowing the TV was out of warranty I called Samsung just to see if they could give me any information on a repair place to fix it in my area. To my surprise the customer service agent said that they would not only repair it for FREE this time, but they would cover the repair service cost as well.
I did NOT expect this. Most of the time you cant get companies to replace their product without having a bitch fit when its still covered under warranty, much less when the warranty is up!
Lets just say Im Samsung FOR LIFE.
If youre in the market, I would strongly recommend Samsung! Great TVs and even better customer service! That my friends is RARE!

ReplyDeleteWe have 4 TV's in our house-I know, a bit much? All of them are Samsung and it's the only brand we buy! Our oldest one is 3 years old and we've had NO problems with it so far!
ReplyDeleteThis is good to know! We have a Samsung TV and Surround Sound! Our surround sound is acting up! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! I have 2 flat screen TVS and both are samsung. They are the best.

ReplyDeleteWe're actually in the market for a new, smaller tv for our bedroom and I might just have to give Samsung some love now!! :)
This is good to know, as it looks like I will be in the market for a new TV soon.
ReplyDeleteNow you can use that money you saved on a fabulous vacation!
ReplyDeleteWOW that is really good customer service! That is highly unheard of anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT news! My fiance's tv (also a samsung) is doing the exact same thing. We were shopping for a new one, but if they'll fix it for free, that would be awesome! Thanks for posting this!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know! I took a gamble when I bought my bedroom tv on Cyber Monday last year and so far so good! It's an Element (Walmart's brand), I did some research and had heard that the technology on the inside was the exact same as Sony, just the outside was different.
ReplyDeleteThat's so amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, good to know! It's always worth a shot to call!!
ReplyDeleteTalk about good to know!!!
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same tv... which is a funny story in itself, as I was adamant about not getting it, blah, blah, blah. It hasn't been used much in the last year, but I will have to remember this incase something happens!
Thank you, Girlie!!!
We have 3 Samsung TVs in our house and we love them. One of them did have a problem while under warranty and took a little while to fix (they had to order a part) but they were so incredible nice about it and keep us in the loop the whole time. They do have awesome customer service!
